Office refurbishment
Design and Construction
Client: McCann Erickson
London, 2005-6
Refurbishment of the lower-ground level of the headquarters of McCann Erickson advertising agency, London. The scheme reintroduces an industrial aesthetic, stripping out the plasterboard compartmentalized fit out and replacing it with a more dynamic and creative environment. The new interior adopts the graphic language of the motor industry, reflecting the original use of the building as a multi-storey car park, built in the 1930s.
A series of 7 editing suites are presented as individual units with shop fronts onto an interior streetscape, which culminates at the reception desk. Casual seating is built-in to the streetscape structure. Materials include chrome, plywood, mesh and rubber flooring which folds up onto the timber wall. Additional bespoke laser-cut plywood furniture and angle poise lamps are arranged throughout the space. The audio edit room is distinguished as a conspicuous chrome pod.
The project won an FX Award 2006 in the category of Workspace Environment.
